SCF GC 10+ Details

The details of the Southern Croquet Federation Golf Croquet C10+ Competition are as follows:

  1. The competition comprises a number of one day events open to members of any Southern Croquet Federation club
  2. Each event will be for up to 8 eight players and will be level play.
  3. Players may enter as many events as they wish.
  4. Allocation of places in the event to the players who have entered will follow Croquet England (CqE) Tournament Regulations. Therefore:
    4.1. Each event will have an allocation deadline
    4.2. Entries received before then will be all considered together to allocate places in the event. Entries will be prioritised by descending grade for players of handicap 10 or more on that date. Players without a grade will be given a nominal grade of their handicap trigger point. Players level after this ordering will be chosen by lot.
    4.3. 2 places for each event will be reserved for players under 25 OR who haven’t played in an SCF GC 10+ event yet in this year’s competition and who wouldn’t have otherwise qualified. Players in this group will be prioritised by the same method as in 4.2
    4.4. Players allocated a place will have their entry confirmed. They may still take part in the event even if their handicap changes after the allocation date.
    4.5. Players not allocated a place will be placed on a reserve list if they wish, and may be invited to take part in the event of withdrawals
    4.6. If the event is not fully subscribed at the allocation date, entries will be accepted in “first come first served” order from players with handicap 10 or more when their entry is received. Entries will be accepted up until one week before the event.
  5. Players will be asked to pay the entry fee of £10/player once their place is confirmed. If payment is not received within seven days, the player may be deemed to have withdrawn.
  6. The standard format for each event shall be:
    6.1 Players will be divided into two blocks of four.
    6.2 A player will play each of their opponents in a 13-point game, meaning each player will play 3 games in the block.
    6.3 Block results will be ordered by the number of wins, followed by net points in the games played. The full criteria for ordering is defined in Tournament Regulation F2
    6.4 There will then be two further rounds of knockout play (also 13-point games). The players placed 1st and 2nd in each block will play off for positions 1 to 4 in the event. The players placed 3rd and 4th in each block will play off for places 5 to 8. Therefore, players should be ready to play 5 games in the day.
    6.5 Variations to the format may be made at the Manager’s discretion to ensure a result is achieved.
  7. Games will not normally be timed, but may become so at the Manager’s discretion.
  8. Points will be awarded to players at each event, according to their finishing position. The trophy will be awarded to the player with most points over all the events. If there is a tie on points, it will be awarded to the player with the most event wins, followed by most 2nd places etc.
  9. The points awarded at each event will be as follows:
    1st = 25
    2nd = 18
    3rd = 12
    4th = 8
    5th = 6
    6th = 4
    7th = 2
    8th = 1
  10. The results of each event will be published croquetscores.com and the winner of the competition will be listed in the GC Section of the SCF Roll of Honour
